Littering Offenses

Environmental Protection Act 1990:

  • Fixed penalty £150 (or £2,500 court fine)
  • Includes: Food waste, toilet paper, cigarette butts

“Pack it in, pack it out”:

  • ALL waste (biodegradable or not)
  • Exceptions: Human waste (bury properly), grey water (scatter)

Human Waste

No specific law BUT:

  • Public health offense if improper
  • Polluting water illegal

Proper disposal:

  • Cat hole: 15-20cm deep, 50m+ from water
  • Cover fully
  • Toilet paper: Pack out OR bury deeply OR burn
