Everything from 3-Day Pack PLUS:

Bleeding Control (Field Surgery):

  • +2 Israeli bandages (total 3) – multiple casualties or multi-site injury
  • 1 Tourniquet (CAT or similar) – life-threatening limb bleeding (last resort)
  • +4 Gauze pads (total 8)

Wound Care (Comprehensive):

  • +10 Antiseptic wipes
  • +10 Steri-strips (total 14-16) – multiple wounds
  • 1 Irrigation syringe (30ml) – flushing wounds deeply
  • 1 Betadine solution (30ml) – powerful antiseptic (iodine-based)

Medication (Extended):

  • +8 Ibuprofen (total 16 tablets – week supply)
  • +8 Paracetamol (total 16)
  • +4 Antihistamine
  • 4 Loperamide (anti-diarrheal) – GI issues common extended trips
  • 4 Oral rehydration salts (ORS packets) – diarrhea/vomiting dehydration

Antibiotics (If Trained/Prescribed):

  • 5-7 day course Broad-spectrum antibiotic (doctor-prescribed)
  • Only if: Remote location, medical training, doctor approval
  • Not for casual use – antibiotic resistance serious

Burns:

  • 2 Burn dressings (gel-impregnated) – fire accidents
  • OR Cling film (non-stick burn covering)

Blisters/Friction (Heavy Use):

  • +4 Blister plasters
  • 1 Moleskin sheet (cut to size) – blister prevention

Sprains (Enhanced):

  • +1 Elastic bandage (total 2 – ankle + wrist simultaneously possible)

Tools:

  • 1 Scalpel blade (sterile, disposable) – lancing blisters, splinter removal
  • 1 Thermometer (check fever accurately)

Documentation (Medical Log):

  • Proper first aid record sheet – injuries, treatments, times, vital signs

Survival:

  • +1 Emergency blanket (total 2 – person + spare)

Rationale

True self-reliance:

  • Help 3+ hours away (maybe longer if weather/terrain)
  • Must manage injuries for days before evacuation
  • Infection can develop over week (antibiotics critical if trained)

Advanced items justified:

  • Tourniquet: Life-threatening bleeding (axe accident, saw injury)
  • Irrigation syringe: Deep wound cleaning (prevents infection)
  • Antibiotics: Infection developing far from help (ONLY if prescribed/trained)

Still NOT hospital:

  • Major trauma = evacuation (call emergency services)
  • Broken bones = stabilize and evacuate
  • Severe burns = evacuate
  • Internal injuries = evacuate
