Radiating Arms
The most common form shows eight arms radiating from center, each arm ending in trident or three-pronged fork. This creates pattern with twenty-four tips (eight times three) extending outward in all directions. The symbolism seems clear—protection radiating outward, defense covering all approaches, power projecting in every direction.
Variations exist with different numbers of arms—four, six, twelve. Each variation might have different specific use or different perceived power. The grimoires sometimes specify which version to use for which purpose, suggesting systematic magical taxonomy.
Central Point
All versions share central point from which arms radiate. This center might represent self, the person protected, the source of power. The arms extend from this center, creating barrier between protected self and threatening exterior.
The geometric form is elegant—simple enough to draw quickly, complex enough to appear meaningful, radially symmetric suggesting completeness and balance. As magical symbol, it has visual impact that would support psychological function even if supernatural mechanism was questioned.
