Beyond prophecy, the seers often carried other forms of knowledge—herb lore, healing techniques, understanding of natural cycles. This was practical adjunct to their primary function. A woman who could see wyrd could also see the connections between plants and ailments, between moon phases and healing, between seasonal changes and human health.
This made them valuable beyond their prophetic gift. A community might seek the seer for prophecy but also consult her about mysterious illness, about proper time for planting, about which herbs would counter poison. The sight that allowed perception of temporal patterns also allowed perception of other hidden connections, relationships invisible to ordinary observation.
